The History of Our Campus
Schedule A TourProviding Care for More Than a Century
Springfield Senior Living is located in beautiful Wyndmoor, PA and our campus boasts a rich history. In 1877, the property was donated by William Bucknell to build a new hospital building for the Rehab Hospital/House of Mercy, the first tuberculosis institution in the US. The new structure was called The Shields Building in the Rehab Hospital (funds available at the bequest of Mary Shields). In 1957, the hospital’s focus changed from tuberculosis to physical rehabilitation. It was renamed All Saints’ Rehabilitation Hospital. In 1987, the campus was purchased from Episcopal Community Services by Chestnut Hill Hospital Health Care, and the name was changed again. In 2007, it was purchased by Traditions Healthcare, and it became Montgomery Rehabilitation Center.
Springfield Senior Living, originally Springfield Retirement Residence, was built in 1975 by Episcopal Community Services. It provided secure, independent living in a caring environment for local seniors.
Today, Springfield Senior Living is a stable healthcare management firm in the capable hands of experts in the healthcare and finance-related fields.
